Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 7, 2026

FeedWindow is an iOS app and website operated by Chris Crompton in the United States. It is built to know as little about you as possible: no accounts, no in-app advertising, no behavioral analytics or telemetry SDKs, and no tracking of your activity across other companies' apps or websites. This policy describes the data handled through the app, this website, and email support.

The short version

Location

FeedWindow asks for location access (while using the app, at roughly 100-meter accuracy) for two purposes: showing a live Go Score for where you are, and creating a fishing spot at your GPS position. Location is used on-device and, as described below, coordinates are sent to our weather provider to fetch a forecast. Your location history is not collected or stored by us. You can decline location access and place spots manually on the map, and you can withdraw permission at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → FeedWindow.

Fishing spots (your private iCloud)

Spots you save (name and coordinates) are stored on your device and synced through CloudKit to your private iCloud database, so they follow you across your devices. Private CloudKit data is accessible only with your Apple Account; the developer cannot read, access, or export it. If you are not signed in to iCloud, spots simply stay on your device.

Trips, catches, and stats

Trip logs, catches, Called It badges, streaks, and season stats are stored only on your device. They are never synced or uploaded. Deleting the app deletes them.

Weather data (Open-Meteo)

To compute scores and windows, the app requests forecasts from Open-Meteo. Each request includes a spot's latitude and longitude, the date range, and your time zone. As with any internet request, Open-Meteo also receives the request's IP address, and our API credential identifies the app โ€” not you. FeedWindow does not attach your name, email, Apple Account, or any advertising identifier. Open-Meteo may retain server logs containing IP addresses and requested coordinates for up to 90 days for security and troubleshooting, after which individual logs are deleted; see the Open-Meteo terms and privacy policy.

Purchases (Apple and RevenueCat)

Subscriptions are billed by Apple through your App Store account; we never see your payment details. To manage subscriptions, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives a randomly generated, anonymous App User ID, your Apple receipt and subscription information (product, price, renewal state), and limited technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, and last-used timestamps. We use this to validate access, restore purchases, prevent fraud, provide support, and understand aggregate subscription performance. We may use Apple's standard Search Ads attribution through RevenueCat to measure, in aggregate, how our own App Store ads perform. We do not send RevenueCat your name, email, Apple Account, fishing spots, trips, catches, or location.

Third parties

Apple, RevenueCat, and Open-Meteo may process only the data described above, for the purposes described above. We require service providers processing data on our behalf to protect it consistently with this policy and applicable law, and not to use it for unrelated advertising or cross-app tracking. Data sent to these providers is encrypted in transit. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

What we do not do

Contacting support

Support is email-only. If you contact us, we receive your email address, any name you provide, your message, and any attachments. We use this only to respond, troubleshoot, and keep necessary support records, and we delete it after 24 months unless it is needed for an ongoing dispute or legal obligation.

Data retention and deletion

Because your data lives on your device and in your private iCloud, you control most of it directly:

Children

FeedWindow is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly process personal data from a child under 13. If you believe a child has provided data through FeedWindow or a support request, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will post the revision at this URL and update the date above. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request renewed consent.
